According to statistics from the Ministry of Finance of Japan, exports of stainless steel scrap in Q1 2022 was 53,008 t, down 20.9% from the same period last year. Exports to Korea were 28,214 t, accounting for 53.2% of the total, while 8,155 t was exported to China, 6,334 t to Taiwan and 5,266 t to Thailand. However, Japan’s stainless scrap exports in Mar’22 reached 23,746 t, a 79.6% increase from the previous month, as per a SteelDaily report.
