Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO) planned to procure 500 mega-watt (MW) of power for 3 years. The power purchase would be in exchange of the coal supplied by TANGEDCO to the awardee, in order to acquire power at a cheaper cost. The ceiling price has been set at INR 3.171/unit for the reverse auction scheduled on 30 May 2022.
