A total of 20 vessels with combined light displacement tonnage (LDT) of 208,170 were received at Alang for recycling in Apr’22, up 34% compared with 154,819 LDT in Mar. SteelMint data show that 73 ships were beached at Alang for demolition during Jan-Apr. The ship recycling market continued its strong performance throughout the month as Indian buyers bid competitively to secure tonnage, thereby leading the way in the subcontinental market.
