India: Thermal coal imports decline sharply by over 25% in April

India’s thermal coal imports witnessed a 26% m-o-m fall in April to 12.4 mnt, CoalMint vessel line-up data reveals. Record-high coal prices in March due to sanctions on Russia compelled Indian buyers to take a backseat, leading to the fall in imports last month. Shipments from all the origins witnessed a m-o-m decline as Indonesia fell sharply by 20%, followed by South Africa by 54% and Australia by 39%.
