Indian Railways supplied a total of 14,890 coal-laden rakes during Apr’22, as per CoalMint’s data. Rake movement increased 10% y-o-y from 13,500 in Apr’21, but it was still lower on the m-o-m basis. Inadequate development in rail infrastructure has put the power plants in a hand-to-situation despite coal companies bolstering surplus stock at the mines. In a latest attempt, the railways has cancelled several passenger trains to make way for coal wagons amid soaring power demand.
