China’s coke production decreased by 4% y-o-y in Q1CY’22 (Jan-Mar’22) to 115 mnt. Production fell amid COVID-19-led lockdowns and higher coking coal costs starting late-Feb. The country’s key coke producing provinces of Shanxi and Shaanxi recorded a y-o-y drop in output of 7% and 2% respectively to 23 mnt and 12 mnt during the period.
