A senior NMDC official told SteelMint, “Not many reasons but the low buying interest for lumps in the 1st advance e-auction due to price difference in lumps (high) and fines (low) and Pellets being preferred by sponge iron units has resulted in offering of limited quantity this time.”
In 1st advance e-auction, 336,000 MT of fines was sold out completely. Out of 160,000 MT offered, 64,000 MT (40%) of lumps was purchased i.e. Week 1 (20%) and Week 2 and 3 (70%).
