Thermal coal exports by major countries rose by 6% m-o-m to 62 mnt in Mar’22, as per customs data. However, on a y-o-y basis, exports fell by 13% amid elevated prices. Indonesia topped the list of exporters at 28.5 mnt, up 21% m-o-m, while adverse weather conditions impacted Australian and South African exports that stood at 14 mnt and 5 mn t, respectively. Sanctions on Russia led to shipments by that country dropping 33% m-o-m to 4 mnt in March.
