China: Steel billet imports largely stable, y-o-y, in Q1CY’22

China’s steel billet imports in Q1CY’22 remained largely stable at 1.97 mnt, according to data released by the customs.
Oman was the largest exporter at 0.48 mnt followed by Russia and Iran at 0.47 mnt and 0.27 mnt respectively.
Chinese steel production cuts and cost-effective domestic billets kept import bookings subdued.
