Rising power pricesin Indian market is supporting demand for imported coal, mentioned Indianimporters.
“Demand forimported Indonesian and South African coal has gone up recently primarily dueto rising power prices in several states of India. Also power consumption goesup during summer season.” said an Importer based in East coast of India.
Recently coal Indiahas reported not to achieve targeted production in FY 2013, one of the reasonswhy power units are keen to secure imported coal, he further added.
Current offers forIndonesian 5300-5500 GCV coal is at Rs 3,000/t + VAT in Mangalore, Rs3,150-3,200/t + VAT in Kandla and Rs 3,000/t + VAT in Vizag port.
However SouthAfrican RB1 (Richards Bay 1) is offered at Rs 5,950-6,000/t + VAT at Mangaloreport, mentioned another importer based in southern coast of India.
