India: Coal inventory at power plants drops to around 23 mnt in April

Coal inventory at Indian power plants has started to decline at a faster rate than usual due to soaring summer time demand at a time coal supplies are faltering. As on 11 Apr’22, the stock level was assessed at 23.52 mnt as against 25 mnt seen over the past three months. During 1-11 April, the plants received coal at an average of 2.12 mnt/day, which was lower than the consumption rate of 2.29 mnt/day.
