Mongolia: Coal exports increase by over 80% m-o-m, in Mar’22

Mongolia’s coal exports in Mar’22 stood at 1.23 mnt, up 83% m-o-m. The country witnessed a spurt in export sales for the fourth consecutive month, an indication of improved supplies. Mongolia is dependent on China for more than 90% of its coal exports. Exports increased as China has relaxed restrictions on truck movements previously imposed to curb the pandemic. However, exports fell 43% y-o-y in March.
