About 75,000 t of Australia-origin premium hard coking coal was sold at $500/t FOB today (as on 12 April), up $46/t d-o-d. Australian coking coal prices have been rallying since the latter half of last week after the EU imposed fresh sanctions on Moscow and as Tangshan exits lockdown. Russia contributes 30% of the EU’s coking coal and PCI imports resulting in increased coal demand from other origins.
