Japan: Nippon Steel suspends blast furnace 1 operations at Kyushu Steel works

Japanese steel major, Nippon Steel, has suspended operations at its first blast furnace at the Kyushu Works in Yahata district due to unforeseen reasons. According to a report, a molten leak occurred during the process of transporting the molten iron on 9 Apr’22. The steel major did not disclose the total period of shutdown but the estimated production loss is expected to be around 1 mnt.
