Japan, South Korea to stop coal imports from Russia

Several utilities in Japan and South Korea have decided to stop Russian coal imports in response to the expanding web of sanctions on Russia, with the EU imposing fresh sanctions on Russia this week while a few other countries are also mulling the same. Japan and South Korea are the biggest buyers of Russian coal after China, as they together imported 42 mnt in 2021.
