POSCO’s cold-rolled (CR) plated steel sheet sales totalled 1.10 million tonnes (mnt) in March 2022, largely stable against 1.09 mnt a seen a month ago.
Domestic sales improved by 6% to 0.51 mnt in March, 2022 against 0.49 mnt a month ago. However, these dropped 3% against 0.53 mnt in March, 2021 on a y-o-y basis.
In March, 2022, sales volumes of hot-dipped galvanized steel sheets (HGI), galvanized steel sheets (GI), pickled steel sheets (PO) were higher in the domestic market. Meanwhile, sales of full-hard steel sheets (FH) and electro-galvanized steel sheets (EGI) dropped compared to the previous month.
Exports
Exports of CR sheets dropped 4% to 0.59 mnt in March 2022 against 0.61 mnt in February, 2022. Similarly, the same plunged 14% against 0.71 mnt in the corresponding period last year.
Notably, sales of hot-rolled galvanized steel sheets and cold-rolled steel sheets increased compared to the previous month, but sales of all other items decreased from the
previous month.
Q1CY22 sales down 3% y-o-y
POSCO’s CR plated steel sheet sales in Q1CY22 stand at 3.41 mnt, a decline of 3% against 3.53 mnt in the same period last year. Out of this, domestic sales accounted for 1.47 mnt (down 6% y-o-y) and exports stood at 1.94 mnt (down 1% y-o-y) in Q1.
