India’s thermal coal imports hit a 12-month high in Mar’22 rising by a whopping 108% m-o-m to 16.7 mnt, CoalMint data shows. Shipments from major destinations rose sharply with Indonesia being the highest supplier at 11 mnt, followed by South Africa at 3.2 mnt. Imports from Australia and the USA rose by 28% and 109% m-o-m respectively. However, in FY’22, imports fell to 135 mnt, down 9% y-o-y.
