Australia: Whitehaven Coal receives nod to extend Narrabri coal mine until 2044

Australian miner Whitehaven Coal has received approval to extend its Narrabri coal mine until 2044, adding a total of 82 mnt to its extraction plan, as per reports. The plan was approved by the New South Wales Independent Planning Commission keeping in view the environmental parameters. The Narrabri coal mine had produced 5.6 mnt of thermal coal last year.
