World crude steel production falls 6%, y-o-y, in Feb’22

Crude steel output of 64 countries tracked by the World Steel Association (WSA) fell 5.6% y-o-y to 142.7 mnt in Feb’22. On a monthly basis, production dropped sharply by 8% as against 155 mnt in Jan.

• China produced 75 mnt, down 10% y-o-y
• India churned out 10.10 mnt, up 7.6% y-o-y
• Japan’s production stood at 7.3 mnt, a decrease of 2.3% on the year.
