China: Coal imports plunge 53% in Feb’22 as domestic production rises

China’s coal and lignite imports plunged 53% m-o-m and 46% y-o-y to 11.2 mnt in Feb’22, as per customs data. Indonesia and Russia remained the top suppliers last month. There was a sharp drop in imports due to increased coal production at 690 mnt during Jan-Feb, up 10% y-o-y, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows.
