India:Domestic coal prices surge as international coal prices edge higher

Domestic coal prices surged amid limited imports of thermal coal because of rise in international coal prices due to the Russia-Ukraine war. Last week, the average weekly GCV 4500 kcal/kg run of mine (ROM) coal price in Wani, Maharashtra, was at INR 10,000/t, up INR 375/t w-o-w. Similar grade material in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, was sold at INR 10,875/t, up INR 1,388 /t w-o-w.
