Indian Trader to import 80,000 MT Pellets from Australia

India: Trader to import 80,000 MT Pellets from Australia

After the Supreme Court’s order on 16 May, 2014 over temporary suspension of mines running under 2nd deemed renewal in Odisha, a shortfall of about 19 MnT Iron ore has been occurred in the country on an annual basis, giving room for imports.

JSW & Tata Steel continuously importing the key raw material for their captive use. However, trading houses like Tata International, Swiss Singapore, Visa Resources and SIMEC Indus Resources are importing for merchant sales.

Recently, SIMEC Indus Resources is to import about 80,000 MT Pellets from Australian manufacturer, Grange Resources. Cargo was shipped from Latta port in Australia on 3rd week of July, 2014 and expected to reach Paradip port on 2nd week of August, 2014.

Pellet offers in Indian market have corrected a bit owing to falling steel prices. Current offers from Barbil based manufacturers are at INR 7,400/MT. Jamshedpur based manufacturer offered at INR 7,000/MT.
