Japan: Manganese ore imports drop marginally in Jan’22

Japan’s manganese ore imports stood at 58,201 t in Jan’22 – a drop of 3% m-o-m as against 59,745 t in Dec, according to customs data. Around 69% of total imports were from South Africa while Gabon exported 18,103 t to Japan. However, silico manganese imports rose by 17% m-o-m in line with improved crude steel production of around 22% m-o-m in Jan.
