Japan: Ferrous scrap exports plunge 40%, m-o-m, in Jan’22

Japan’s ferrous scrap exports fell 40% m-o-m in Jan’22, as per customs data.
The country exported 280,000 t of scrap in Jan as against 470,000 t in Dec.
South Korea was the largest importer with 210,000 t, followed by Vietnam with 32,800 t.
On a y-o-y basis, exports by Japan dropped sharply by 42% compared to 480,000 t in Jan’21.
