Pellet and Steel makers in Central India seek different Iron ore sourcing options amid restricted supply from Odisha.
Katni (MP) based processing units offers 63% Fe Iron ore concentrate at around INR 3,000/MT, according to market participants. Katni region located in Central India is known for low grade Iron ore and has an annual capacity of 3-4 MnT.
Recent restriction imposed on Iron ore mining in Odisha has forced Pellet & Steel manufacturers to look at alternative options.
Market traders have mentioned that Essar Steel has bought some quantity of lumps sized 10-40 mm for its Hazira plant. Apart from this, Uttam Galva and Jindal Saw along with Raipur based Pellet manufacturers have been sourcing Iron concentrate from that region consistently.
Currently, Fe 53% CLO is being offered at INR 2,300/MT, 55% 10-40 mm at INR 2,900/MT and fines of Fe 55% at around INR 1,400/MT. (Prices including Royalty)
