Japanese steel major Nippon Steel has announced recently that it would start construction of an electric furnace in Hirohata district after the easing of immigration norms in Mar’22. Covid-19 led restrictions on foreign visits in 2021 barred the entry of Italian experts and equipment, thereby postponing the construction activity. The company plans to operationalise the furnace this year.
