Diversified Australian miner BHP is reviewing the sale of its New South Wales Energy Coal (NSWEC) business, which may potentially close down the 20 mnt/year Mount Arthur coal mine. Despite lower production last year, higher price realisation has helped the company earn profits which delayed the decision to close the mine so far. BHP sold off its stake in the Cerrejon coal mine in Colombia to Glencore in 2020.
