Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) has opened its account in the third tranche of the coal block auctions by bagging the Utkal-C block at a bid price of 45%. The block has geological reserves of 196 mnt of coal and other companies such as Nalco, Hindalco and Vedanta were in the contention. Bidding for the Namchik Namphuk block in Arunachal Pradesh is still going on.
