India’s coal production increased by 6% m-o-m to 79.6 mnt in Jan’22, with total monthly despatches of 75.55 mnt – the highest so far in the ongoing fiscal. Out of total production, the contribution of Coal India Ltd. (CIL) was 64.5 mnt while Singareni Collieries Company (SCCL) produced 6.03 mnt. The remaining 9.07 mnt came from a mixed bag of captive and merchant miners.
