India: Odisha Government to hold Meeting with Lease Holders

Bhubaneswar: Government of Odisha is likely to hold a discussion with mines lease holders on 18 Jul, 2014; just 4 days before its scheduled meeting with the CEC on 22 Jul, 2014 at New Delhi.

A team of Central Empowered Committee (CEC) is currently on a field visit to the mining areas in Odisha’s Joda and Koira mining circles. Today, the team has visited the J S Pattnaik Mines and Aryan Mining & Trading (AMTC) mines. Yesterday, the CEC team visited 6 mines namely Essel Mining’s Kasia Iron ore mines, RBT mines, SN das Mohapatra mines, KJS Ahluwalia mines at Nuagaon, Tarini Minerals and B K Mohanty mines.  The team is expected to inspect total 11 mines and will hold a discussion with the state government officials on 15 Jul, 2014.

According to sources, the team has found some irregularities in some of the mines it has visited in these 2 days and has already expressed its displeasure to the state officials. In this context, the meeting between lease holders and the state government assumes importance.
