A team of the Central Empowered Committee (CEC) will arrive today at Bhubaneswar and would go for a field visit to the mining areas in Joda Mining Circle from tomorrow. According to sources in the government of Odisha, the team is expected to inspect as many as 8 mines in Joda Mining Circle. On 13 Jul, 2014 the team will visit R P Sao, KJS Ahluwalia, Essel, Arjun Lodha, Ram Bahadur Thakur and S N Das Mohapatra mines. The will also inspect Jilling Langolata Mines of Essel Mining & Industries, Jajang mines of Rungta and Serajuddin mines the next day. The CEC team will be accompanied by senior officials of mines, revenue and forest departments.
The team will verify the allegations pertaining to violation of Rule 37 of Mineral Concession Rules (MCR) -1960 during their field visit. The CEC team is expected to have a discussion with the state government officials on 15 Jul, 2014. After the visit, the CEC is expected to submit its final report on the illegal mining in Odisha to the Supreme Court by the end of this month.
Earlier, the CEC which visited the state on 9 & 10 Jun, 2014 had discussions with the officials in Bhubaneswar on environmental clearance and usurpation of reserve forest land by the miners in Joda.
