Sudden demand of Billet from northern market led to shortage of Billet in Raipur that hiked the Structure prices upto 300/MT.
From Durgapur, around 1,000 MT of Billet supplied to Mandi on daily basis, which shifted to Raipur because of low prices and easy transportation.
Light & medium Structural demand is more than average in Raipur but heavy Structure demand reduced by 25% in past few weeks. While, low availability of Billet in Raipur pushed up prices by INR 100-300/MT. SKS Ispat’s I-Beam 200 traded at INR 35,200/MT (advance payment; Ex-Raipur). Meanwhile, Sarthak Ispat offered H-Beam 152 at INR 36,700/MT (advance payment; Ex-Raipur). Structure manufacturers are closely looking Raipur’s Billet & Ingot prices, which recently increased by INR 200-400/MT.
Mumbai Structure offers have fallen 1sttime in July, 2014. Today prices corrected by INR 300/MT as monsoon begins. Ghasiram offered Angle 50×6 at INR 36,500/MT. A local well-known trader based at Mumbai said, “Buying was good in June but after heavy rainfall construction activities and demand slowed down. We expect demand to more or less same in coming days.”
