A couple of Iron ore vessels are expected by the company on 18 Jul, 2014. Vessel named Jaigar is to carry 73,755 MT Iron ore lumps from South African Kumba Iron ore mines at Mangalore port. Another vessel named Baltic Tiger is to carry 170,767 MT of Iron ore at Krishnapatnam port, from South Africa.
In the second half of July, JSW Steel is anticipating Iron ore vessel from Canada, which is likely to carry more than 0.1 MnT Iron ore to Krishnapatnam port. Delivery from Canada takes not less than a month.
India already imported 0.3 MnT Iron ore from April to 1st week of July, 2014. 0.63 MnT Iron ore is yet to arrive at Paradip, Haldia & Krishnapatnam port by the end of this month.
Chinese spot Iron ore (Fe 62%) prices stood at an average of USD 114/MT CFR China in April, 2014. Prices (monthly average) weakened to USD 101/MT & USD 93/MT CFR China in May & June respectively. INR depreciated to 58 against USD in May, 2014 and is at 59 currently, making imports viable.
