April’13 (till 24th) India imports Hot Briquetted Iron around 18,000 MT which was down from March’13 import Qty. 72,000 MT. India imports HBI from UAE around 14,200 MT, from Oman 2,100 MT and rest from other countries. On Magdalla port (India) that is near to JNPT receive HBI nearly 11,000 MT and in JNPT 3,300 MT.
SteelMint assessed that this month no bulk quantity was imported from Oman and Malaysia that was generally seen in last couple of months. In February’13 around 43,975 MT were imported from Malaysia at an average price of Rs. 20,936 /t (Duty and taxes extra), and in the month of January approx 52,227 MT were imported from Oman at an average price of Rs 20,759 /t (Duty and taxes extra), as per the custom data.
