Sponge iron prices in Rourkela increased by INR 350/t on 13 Jan’22. SteelMint’s assessment for sponge iron, C-DRI (70% lumps and 30% fines), stands at INR 33,500/t. A total of 2,200 t of deals were confirmed at INR 33,300-33,500/t exw Rourkela. Active trading was seen in the spot market and steel billet prices, which rose by INR 300/t today, kept sponge iron prices supported, sources informed.
