Japan: Nippon Steel to suspend operations at Oita blast furnace

Japan’s Nippon Steel Corporation is suspending operations at one of its blast furnaces in the Oita district for about two weeks, which is triggering supply disruption of 300,000 t of hot-rolled products used in the auto and shipbuilding industries. The restoration of BF 1 at Oita is underway and operations are expected to resume soon. BF 2 is also expected to return to normal operational levels in Jan’22.
