India: Maharashtra govt removes power subsidy for manufacturing industries

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) has removed the INR 1.50 per unit subsidy for manufacturing industries based in the Jalna, Wada and Vidharbha regions from Dec’21. The power charge for industries currently stands at INR 7 per unit, which may vary depending on the load factor. Due to the rise in power (input) costs, steel producers may pass the additional cost incurred to end-users.
