Coal India Ltd. (CIL) has decided to restart linkage auction for coal sales to ‘other sub-sectors’ excluding captive power facilities, sponge and cement units, etc. that are non-coking coal consumers from 4 Jan’22 under tranche V of the linkage scheme. The ongoing tranche was initiated in 2019 but was temporarily suspended. Upon resumption, the auction process for captive power facilities and cement plants were concluded this year.
