India: CG State increases Power Tariff by 2-3% for FY15

Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Company Ltd (CSPDCL) in press release dated 12 Jun, 2014 has announced a marginal hike in power tariff by 10 paisa per unit. As per the industry veteran of MSP (Mini Steel Plant), the new tariff for the steel sector can understand by three options.

Prevailing Power Tariff: Energy charges to INR 3.50 per unit with demand charges to INR 360 per KVA

CG State has more than 120 furnace units and this unit prefers Sponge iron as raw material, which consumes electricity approx 800-900 units/tone. As per the industry manufacturers, the increase in electricity tariff by 10 paisa will raise the monthly electricity payout bill per unit by INR 2-3 lakhs. However, today semi finish trade market ignored the electricity hike considering it as marginal hike, which has been observed by manufacturer.
