India’s Iron Pellet capacity has seen a phenomenal escalation and attained multifold expansion during the preceding 4-5 years and is likely to continue in upcoming years.
On grounds of depleting Iron ore lumps and descending production since FY11, in the course of mining concerns, Pellet production has enhanced. India’s existing Pellet capacity is over 65 MnT and expected to add 25 MnT in fiscal year 2014-2015; supply is higher than demand.
In a recent study conducted by SteelMint & Steel 360, it was identified that Indian Pellet plants are operating at just over 60 percent of installed capacity.

How will the 25 MnT additional Pellet capacities affect Indian Iron ore market in the role of Pellets pre-dominantly being consumed by Sponge iron manufactures?
