Zimbabwe finalises plans to ban exports of chrome concentrates from Jul’22

In order to boost mineral beneficiation in the country and discourage raw ore exports, Zimbabwe’s government is banning exports of unprocessed chrome ore and concentrates from 1 Jul’22. The country banned raw chrome ore exports in Aug’21. With 10 billion tonnes of reserves, Zimbabwe has about 12% of the world’s chrome ore reserves. It is the second-largest high-grade chrome ore producer after South Africa.
