South Korean steel giant POSCO’S total sales (domestic and overseas) of cold-rolled plated sheets were recorded at 1.008 million tonnes (mn t),  a drop of 13% (0.018 mn t) compared to the same month of the previous year, the lowest performance this year, according to SteelDaily.

Domestic sales were recorded at 0.43 mn t, down 19.7% compared to the same month of the previous year. Products which showed reduced sales compared to the previous month were electro-galvanized steel (EGI), full-hard steel (FH), masonry raw plates, and hot-rolled galvanized steel (HGI).

Overseas sales fell 7.2% y-o-y to 0.57 mn t. Overseas sales of masonry raw plates (BP), which had been an average of 0.008 mn t per month, were nil in November. This can be attributed to the decrease in BP production due to the rationalisation of the continuous annealing line (CALs) at POSCO Pohang Works.

The cumulative sales volume from Jan-Nov’21 were at 12.53 mn t, an increase of 8.7% compared to the same period of the previous year. Domestic sales were at 5.62 mn t and overseas sales at 6.9 mn t, up 9.8% and 7.9%, respectively.
