Coking Coal imports at major Indian ports showing a sharp growth by 41% compared to preceding week to reach 1.1 MnT during the week ended on 31 May.
India has imported around 1.1 MnT Coking Coal at the end of week 22. Out of total weekly Coal imports, approx one forth part comprises Coking Coal, which has been imported from different destinations. However at the end of week 21, around 0.8 MnT of Coking Coal was imported.
From Australia, India has received around 0.65 MnT Coking Coal and registered a jump of 11% against the previous week.

During week 22, India has received Coal from Australia, South Africa & New Zealand. Out of the weekly imports, India has imported about 0.10 MnT from South Africa at Dhamra port that belongs to Usha Martin. New Zealand, one of the exporting countries of Coking Coal to India, has supplied around 0.05 MnT. Total imported quantity belongs to SAIL.
Dhamra port situated on East Coast of India has imported highest quantity i.e. around 0.24 MnT of Coal. The second highest quantity port was Krishnapatnam, imported around 0.17 MnT of Coking Coal from Auatralia. Whole quantity belongs to JSW Steel & Satavahana, based on the consideration of 33 major & minor Indian ports.
JSW Steel, SAIL & Essar Steel are the major importers of Coking Coal and imported around 0.25 MnT, 0.21 MnT & 0.14 MnT respectively.
The ports considered are: Dahej, Mormugao, Navlakhi, Mundra, Mumbai, New Mangalore, Hazira, Kandla, Bedi, Porbander, Dahanu, Dharmatar PnP, Dharamtar Ispat, Tuticorin, Jaigarh, Dighi, Revdanda, Magdalla, Pipavav GPPL, UTCL- Pipavav, Sanghi, Sikka, Okha, Muldwarka, Dhamra, Ennore, Gangavaram, Haldia, Krishnapatnam, Kakinada, Paradip, Vizag & Karaikal.
