Nepal’s steel billet imports rise two-fold in Nov’21

Nepal has recorded imports of 63,100 t of steel billets from India in Nov’21, a staggering increase of 98% m-o-m. The country’s billet imports have risen by 29.8%, y-o-y, to 1.03 mn t in Jan-Nov’21. Imports have increased on account of restocking activities by producers.

• Nepal’s sponge iron imports from India, however, fell to 29,500 t in Nov against 33,800 t in Oct. In Jan-Nov, sponge imports rose by 60%, y-o-y, to 229,650 t.
