China: Mid-Nov’21 inventory dips 4% over previous 10 days

China’s social (not inside mill but exclusive of en-route resources) steel inventory at the end of mid-Nov’21, of five major steel categories in  (mn t), down 370,000 tonnes (t) or 3.9% from the previous ten-day tally.

The inventory is 1.73 mn t or 23.7% up from the level seen at the beginning of the year and up 280,000 t or 3.2% from the same period in CY’20.

In mid-Nov’21, of the seven regions, only southern China, saw an inventory increase. The rest of the six regions witnessed a decline.

Eastern China saw the highest drop in inventory of 150,000 t or 6.3%. Northern China saw 80,000 t or 8.9% decreased in inventory. Southwestern China saw an inventory drop of 80,000 t or 5.1%. Central China’s inventory dropped 60,000 t or 4.5% while in north western China, the same reduced by 30,000 t or 5.8%. North eastern China saw 10,000 t reduction, or 2.8%. Southern China, on the other hand, saw inventory climbing up 40,000 t or 1.7%.
