India: Coal production rises by 6%, y-o-y, in Jan-Oct’21

Coal production in the country grew by 6%, y-o-y, to 624 mn t in the Jan-Oct’21 period on the back of a revival in power demand.

Major highlights:
* CIL subsidiaries dominate list of major coal producers, but SCCL has posted significant rise in production.
* Heavy rainfall curtailed production from mines located in the eastern region.
* Commencement of operations from captive miners provided a boost to overall coal output.
