India: Thermal coal imports rise 16% in Oct’21 on domestic shortage

Amid acute coal shortage in the country, India’s thermal coal imports rose by 16%, m-o-m, in Oct’21 to 10.8 mn t, CoalMint data shows. Thermal coal imports from Australia and South Africa increased by 108% and 35%, respectively, m-o-m. Imports from the U.S rose by 89% on the month. However, imports from Indonesia fell by 8% to 5.4 mn t.
