Anode coke market having various types of coke, the Calciners look for import options mainly keeping in view of the required Sulphur content and metal contents in the final product CPC (Calcined Petroleum Coke). The major consumption of CPC is in Aluminum industry in which S is 3.5%.
Anode grade Coke/RPC/GPC (Green Petroleum Coke)
Anode grade price has further firmed up due to continuing restricted availability in the international market. The price levels and some of the deals of different quality/origins are given below.
A cargo of 27kt of low Sulphur Anode Grade (0.8S) & Vanadium 150 ppm max, from YPF Argentina has gone to China at CFR $470/t indicating an increase of nearly $80/t.
Another cargo from Petrobras with 0.8S and lower metals has also gone to China at CFR $480/t.
GPC of Chinese origin having 2% Sulphur has moved up in Sep’21 to $495-500/T, indicating an increase over $85-90/T over previous month. GPC having 3% Sulphur has also increased to $430-435/T indicating an increase of over $70-75/T.
It is further understood that the price of 2%S has moved up recently and even breached $500/T barrier.
A cargo from Oman was sold to Chinese buyer at $305-310/T CFR.
It is understood that Chinese traders have booked a combined cargos of Russian Origin to the tune of 100kt, though higher capacity vessel to get freight advantage in the present scenario of very high freight.
Goa Carbon has now received a cargo of 27-28kt having S<0.8%, produced from a Russian refinery which will be loaded from the nearby Poti port in Georgia. FOB price is heard to be $353-354/T, with freight of $90/T.
Goa Carbon has received a cargo of 6-7kt each in Sept’21from Melaka, Malaysia at $ 264-265/T CFR ECI, from their earlier contract.
CPC (Calcined Petroleum Coke):
CPC prices have sharply increased for 3%S is in the range of FOB China at $640-650/t in Sep’21, an increase by $40-50/t over last month.
The current price of CPC FOB USGC having S 3%, Vanadium 250-300ppm, has moved up to $500-510/t, indicating high increase by moderate $50-60/t.
