South African ferro chrome smelter Merafe has increased production by 65% in Jan-Sep’21 to 276 kt compared to the same period last year. The rise in output was mainly due to the lifting of COVID-related restrictions coupled with improved plant efficiencies. However, production was down 20%, q-o-q, in Q3 CY’21 to 77 kt from 99 kt in the last quarter.
