The Indonesian thermal coal index for nearly all grades surged further this week by $9-23/t on China’s robust demand amid the worsening coal supply situation in that country. Tight coal supplies within Indonesia also supported prices, as high-CV 5800 GAR coal prices rose by $23/t, w-o-w, to $189/t FOB, while prices of 5000 and 4200 GAR coals increased by $11/t and $14/t, respectively.
